When and why did you start training for fighting? I have been doing judo for over 20 years years, so martial arts have always been part of my life. I later transitioned to MMA because my coach wanted me to try it and I ended up liking it.

What professional titles have you held? No belts. Just a bunch of judo championships and jiu jitsu medals.

Any belts/ranks in grappling disciplines? I’m black belt in judo and purple belt in jiu jitsu.

Any belts/ranks in striking disciplines? I really don’t believe in ranks in striking but if I have to give myself one then I might as well be the Sensei.

What has been your toughest fight to date and why? My toughest fight was Omari Akhmedov. That fight helped me find myself again.

Who is your favorite fighter and why? My favorite fighter in MMA is Jon Jones. His IQ when it comes to fighting is just another level.

What was your job before you started fighting? I worked for Delta Airlines and I'm also a bouncer at a bar.

Personal Life/Background: I'm a Ghanaian fighter that grew up struggling on the streets of Accra. I was fortunate enough to qualify for judo championships to come to America in my early 20s and it changed my life. I used the opportunity to run from my team to stay in America to make better life for my family. I was living in Minnesota when I started my MMA career at Doc’s Gym on the North side. Shortly after, I was given the opportunity to train with Team Takedown to be a training partner for Jonny Hendricks and moved to Texas. There, I was able to train, and in 2015, I made my UFC debut. I enjoy spending time with family, reading manga and watching anime. I dislike snakes, long car rides and stupid people. I have three wonderful kids and an amazing wife. Everything I do is to make a better life for them than I had. I will struggle to make sure my kids live a good life!
