When and why did you start training for fighting? My martial arts journey began when I was five years old and took my first Karate class. When I received my black belt at 14, I began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Winnipeg Academy of Mixed Martial Arts and after winning my first grappling match it became my passion. Ever since, I’ve been working towards entering the UFC and becoming world champion.

What ranks and titles have you held? I am a black belt in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Shotokan Karate. TUF 27 featherweight winner

Do you have any heroes? I have never held one person particularly as a hero.

What does it mean for you to fight in the UFC? I have been working towards this goal for over 10 years, and having the opportunity to compete in the UFC is confirmation that I have been and am on the right path. It is one of the rewards of all my effort.

Did you go to college and if so what degree did you earn? I went to the University of Manitoba and graduated with a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering

What was your job before you started fighting? Before I started training full-time I was a Mechanical Engineer

Specific accomplishments in amateur competition? I was the 2013 Canadian Golden Gloves Champion and a member of the Canadian National Boxing team.
