The latest updates to the UFC rankings across all divisions are here. Take a look at which fighters moved up and down after a crucial middleweight main event in Louisville and which spots are on the line at UFC Fight Night: Perez vs Taira.
Four divisions – lightweight, middleweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight - saw some changes following UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs Imavov.
The lightweight division was in the spotlight earlier this month at UFC 302: Makhachev vs Poirier, but there was a shift this week as France’s Benoît Saint Denis moved up to No. 12, while Jalin Turner moved down one spot to No. 13.
Nassourdine Imavov stopped former title challenger Jared Cannonier in the fourth round in Saturday’s main event, which led him to take Cannonier’s spot in the rankings at No. 4. That shifted Cannonier down to No. 5, along with Marvin Vettori falling to No. 6 and Brendan Allen moving to No. 7. Roman Dolidze, who lost to Imavov earlier this year, moved up one spot at No. 10.
Dominick Reyes defended his spot in the rankings, and then some, as the light heavyweight scored his first win since 2019 with a first-round knockout. This bumped Reyes up two spots to No. 13, which shifted Alonzo Menifield down to No. 14 and Azamat Murzakanov to No. 15.
Tai Tuivasa moved up to No. 10, while Derrick Lewis now sits at No. 11.
There are two bouts slated for this weekend’s card at the UFC APEX that have ranking implications on the line and they both take place in the flyweight division.
Tagir Ulanbekov, who is currently ranked No. 12, takes on rising prospect Joshua Van. Ulanbekov comes into the matchup on a two-fight win streak after defeating Nate Maness and Cody Durden, while Van steps into his second fight of 2024 after stopping Felipe Bunes in January. Van is on an eight-fight win streak and is 3-0 inside of the Octagon.
It's a classic veteran versus prospect matchup in the main event as No. 5 ranked Alex Perez faces No. 13 Tatsuro Taira. Perez looks to add to his win streak after he got back in the win column less than two months ago with a second-round knockout over Matheus Nicolau. Meanwhile, Taira holds a perfect 15-0 record, with four wins by knockout and seven by submission. He looks to continue his fast rise in the division by defeating former title challenger Perez.
